Description
A whole cluster of mushrooms, carved one cap at a time and gathered together on a single burled base as if they’d pushed up overnight after rain. Each speckled cap is hand-carved from wood with tiny teardrop-shaped notches cut into the surface, mimicking the natural texture of wild fungi, while the rounded stems taper down into the rugged, sun-worn base beneath them.
That base is genuine parasite wood — a dense, naturally occurring growth that forms on host trees and keeps its gnarled, weathered form long after the original tree is gone. Its knots, dark grain, and rough outer bark are left untouched, giving the whole piece a real sense of forest floor rather than a tidy display stand. Look closely and you’ll spot small tool marks along each cap’s ridges, along with subtle color shifts from pale cream to warm amber across the cluster — signs of the carver’s hand working mushroom by mushroom rather than a mold repeating the same shape.
Because every cap is carved individually and mounted onto a base whose shape can’t be replicated, no two clusters ever come out quite the same — the spacing, tilt, and exact count of mushrooms will shift slightly from piece to piece.
