At HandVara you can find creative pieces made by hand, in small quantities, by people who know their craft. We actually know that this is the reason why we are here: because we can see and feel when something is authentic and the difference is heart, passion and hands.
The journey
We travel to the places most catalogs never reach — small workshops and remote villages where hands still shape wood, brass, resin, and stone the way they have for generations. No factories, no assembly lines. We work directly with the artisans behind each piece, seeking out the ones whose craft has been passed down rather than mass-produced, and bring what we find back to you.
What "handmade" means to us
It means small imperfections. A maker's mark. Natural variation from one piece to the next, because no two hands make the same thing twice. We don't smooth that out or hide it — it's the proof that what you're holding wasn't stamped out by a machine. It also means honesty about materials. When we say solid brass, we mean solid brass. When we say reclaimed teak, it's reclaimed teak. We'd rather tell you plainly what something is made of than dress it up with words like "premium" that don't actually say anything.
Where things come from
We work directly with artisans and small family workshops, not bulk manufacturers. We can back it up, we'll tell you the specifics — a workshop that reclaims offcut wood, a cooperative that's women-led, a maker who's been doing this for decades. We won't slap on words like "sustainable" or "ethically sourced" unless there's something real behind them; those claims mean something, and we don't use them loosely.
