This little owl was hand-cast in solid brass by artisans in Bali, its wide spiral eyes and feathered chest built up in layers of fine detail using traditional lost-wax casting. It’s a compact, weighty piece that sits comfortably in the palm, with a warm gold tone that darkens naturally in the recesses where the casting process leaves its trace.
Look closely and you’ll spot the small marks of hand-finishing – a tiny casting pit near the belly, faint tool marks along the wing feathers, slight unevenness where the brass cooled. Because each figure is poured and finished by hand rather than machine, the exact shade of the patina and the crispness of the detailing shift a little from owl to owl, which is really just the artisan’s touch showing through.
