Description
This charming bird figurine is hand-carved and hand-painted by skilled artisans in Bali, using techniques passed down through generations. The natural wood body is finished in classic black, white, and soft yellow-green tones, with a bold black head, white cheek patches, and a striking yellow chest divided by a dark central stripe, accented with soft blue-grey wings. Slender wire legs add a delicate, realistic touch. Standing approximately 17cm tall including its 6cm natural wood base, it makes a charming and substantial addition to any shelf or desk. Each piece is one of a kind: subtle variations in grain and paintwork are part of the charm of a genuinely handcrafted object.
ETHIC SOURCING
At Handvara, we believe beauty lies in how a product is made. Every piece is crafted from 100% natural, reclaimed, or recycled materials — such as sustainably sourced reclaimed wood — and finished completely free of harmful chemicals.
We partner exclusively with independent artisans and small, family-run workshops rather than industrial factories. This commitment ensures:
- Ethical Production: Strictly zero child labor and guaranteed fair wages for every maker.
- Community Support: Direct contribution to local household incomes and women-led artisan cooperatives.
- Traditional Artistry: This specific collection is hand-carved by Bima Bird Carver, a traditional master artisan based in Tegallalang, Ubud, Bali.
The Artisan’s Mark
Every piece is carved by hand from natural wood, so grain patterns, knots, and subtle tool marks will vary from piece to piece. These aren’t flaws — they’re the wood’s own character, shaped by the carver’s hand.
A note on our photos
We only use AI to clean up the background of our photos — never to alter the product itself. What you see is the actual piece, imperfections and all. That’s the nature of handmade. Sometimes we include an AI generated staging picture that has the intention to only show proportions with surroundings.
