Description
A cluster of slender tall wooden mushrooms of circa 50 cm. (20″) rises from a gnarled base of genuine parasite wood, their caps carved with fine radiating gill lines and finished in warm honeyed tones that shift toward gold and olive at the edges. It’s the kind of piece that rewards a closer look — the curved stems lean into one another at slightly different heights, the way real mushrooms crowd together after rain.
The carving itself is done by hand, cap by cap, gill by gill, and the base beneath it is a naturally-formed burl growth rather than a milled block — its knots, hollows, and rough edges are exactly as the wood grew. Because each artisan works with whatever piece of parasite wood is in front of them, the exact tilt, spacing, and grouping of the mushrooms will vary slightly from one cluster to the next; consider it evidence of a hand and an eye at work, not a mould.
