Description
Three wooden mushrooms rise together from a rugged base of parasite wood, their broad caps and curved stems carved by hand from a pale, honey-toned wood. The gills beneath each cap are patiently scored line by line, and the stems taper and lean into one another with the kind of soft, organic asymmetry no machine could quite replicate.
The base itself is genuine parasite wood – that dense, knotted growth that forms on host trees and outlives them – left in its natural, craggy state with hollows, cracks, and a warm weathered tone that grounds the piece like a little patch of forest floor. Since every base grows into its own shape, the artisan works around whatever form the wood provides, fitting the mushroom cluster to sit naturally within it.
Look closely and you’ll notice small variations from mushroom to mushroom – a slightly different tilt of a cap, a faint tool mark along a stem, uneven shading in the wood grain; these are simply what happens when a piece is shaped by hand rather than poured from a mould, and they’re part of what makes it worth having.
