Description
Four little mushrooms rise from a knotted base of parasite wood, each cap carved by hand with fine gill lines radiating out like the real thing. The tallest caps tilt at slightly different angles, giving the whole cluster the loose, unposed feel of mushrooms that just happened to grow that way — because in a sense, they did, following the shape of the burl beneath them.
The pale, fine-grained wood used for the stems and caps contrasts beautifully with the darker, deeply textured base, where the natural ridges and hollows of the parasite wood growth are left untouched. As this is carved by hand from a naturally irregular material, expect gentle variation in the size, tilt, and gill detailing of each cap — no two mushroom clusters come out quite the same, since no two bases start the same shape.
It’s a quiet, curious little object — the kind of thing that draws a second look on a shelf or windowsill, and a nice alternative to the usual houseplant gift for someone who prefers something a bit more woodland and offbeat.
